Virtual Keyboard on MC17T

I'm starting to wok on some MC17Ts and having a bit of trouble locally configuring the devices. Does anyone know how to get the virtual keyboard to display?  The keyboard icon is not available from the system tray.  The Input Method control panel applet shows no method selected; if I choose keyboard, "ok" the dialog and re-enter the applet it always has forgotten the setting.  (I won't mind as much once I receive a development cable, but currently it's all a bit frustrating.) Does anyone know if some MC17Ts shipped without the virtual keyboard software?

I've been given the answer - most MC17s should have the SIP available by default.  Those that don't can have it enabled via a registry change:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\SIP]

"Prefix"="SIP"

"Dll"="softkb.DLL"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell]

"ShowSipButton"=dword:00000001
