We see that in the GPS API (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb202062(v=MSDN.10).aspx), there are fields exposed that report a Dilution of Precision value. We would like to know how best to interpret those figures?
(The fields are flPositionDilutionOfPrecision, flHorizontalDilutionOfPrecision, flVerticalDilutionOfPrecision)
Is there an industry standard applied, or is it specific to the chip?
What would you suggest as a good Dilution Of Precision to enforce to ensure accuracy of at least 25m together with the MC75 - MC55 - MC75 Sirf 3 chip ?

I have asked GPS engineer, Chi Zhang. Here is my answer: Dilution Of Precision AKA DOP is a standard measurement value. Please refer to the explanation on the Wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dilution_of_precision_%28GPS%29
For the accuracy, HDOP value matters the most. There is no straight forward association between the HDOP value and the accuracy value. As an estimate, to ensure the 25m accuracy, the HDOP is better under 3.
