customer purchased new MC9090 which comes with WM6.1. His customer needs the device to be downgraded to WM5.0 Can the customer use the osupdate package posted on the website for wm5.0 to downgrade?

No. There is no mechanism to downgrade. I believe the WM5 version of the MC9090 is still available to order.
