MC95 imager decode performance

Several months ago we ported a .NET application for a customer from a competitor device to an MC95 with imager. Primary use is scanning pallets. The customer is now shrink-wrapping all pallets and the decode performance for barcodes behind layers of shrinkwrap is not very good with default settings using the EMDK.  They have noticed that the MAX Demo application does a better job of decoding the 1D barcodes than the ported .NET app.  I am going to experiment with the EMDK Barcode class'  ImagerSpecific.PoorQuality1DMode, but would also like to find out what others might be aware of.  Is there a way to get ahold of the barcode/imager settings used by the MAX Demo scanner application?  Can any one suggest settings to assist with scanning barcodes distorted by layers of shrink wrap?
