The MC75 is Windows Mobile, so it has three types of reboot: 1. Warm Boot 2. Cold Boot 3. Clean Boot Warm Boot and Cold Boot are very similar, in that neither clear the Microsoft persistent file system.  Cold Boot MAY clear a few obscure things that Warm Boot does not, depending on the device, but in most ways, on Windows Mobile, Warm Boot and Cold Boot are almost equivalent.  The main difference is that Cold Boot will be a less "orderly" shutdown, hence if done while files are modified and still open, it could result in file system corruption.  It is therefore STRONGLY recommended that a Warm Boot be used instead of a Cold Boot whenever possible. Clean Boot causes the Microsoft persistent file system to be cleared as well, hence generally may lose more information, configuration, etc.  But a Clean Boot DOES NOT clear the Application partition, hence anything stored there will persist across a Clean Boot.  If the RegMerge and CopyFiles mechanisms are used properly, then information stored in the Application partition can be used to make additional applications, data, configuration, etc, perist across Clean Boot. So, there is no easy answer to your question since it depends on exactly WHAT you do and do not want to preserve and exactly HOW things are loaded into your device.  It is certainly POSSIBLE to set things up so a Clean Boot can be done and that JUST the information you WANT to persist is kept, with everything else being lost.  But in order to do that, you would need to plan carefully and install things in the right way.
