Discussion:

If we want to have SEVT become more solution-focused,
we have to discuss: What's a SOLUTION in RFID

  -  we need, Hardware, Solution, req partners in most cases,

-   requires "business consultant" approach..

SHRIDAR - I have an example .. A customer who want to do indoor locationing in whse via tags embedded in floor.. Requires reader on forklift, mounted so antenna can look down.

Larry's take away - This requires partners to DO all this .. We don't have the ability to get involved at a driving level, but an assisting level

Looking for another example, one that may be more in the
"solution = a complex product" view..

Have you all seen product that goes over door .. White plastic curved arch over door..

Kris Hobbs -- mean Antenna arch ?

part of Smart Sensing.. It may be shown at NRF..

WILL BE at NRF in NY

Yep that's the one.. So.. Question…

SMART SENSING is a new, complex product requiring special skills/experience to install..
So.. IS this what management means by " Solution" ?

Idea - the idea of an out of box solution in RFID world,

there aren't any .. Except maybe SNAp

Trailer Load Analytics..   This is a soln - hw and sw and don't need other stuff.

   do need to integrate it..

Eric - we are simplifying too much.. SNAp is not plug and play..

there is a lot of integration work..

Same on RFID.. SO.. GROUP QUESTION

SHOULD WE INVITE PARTNERS into SEVT MEETINGS FOR INDEPTH DISCUSSIONS>>>
Decision was YES,  let Partners do middleware and integration..

SNAp is very complex to implement (like WFC.. )

it has hw and sw .. Hw just tools..

Real Solutions are almost always projects..

Is SNAp going to be like WFC?  Needs too much expertise,

Kr - SNAp has had a lot more resources devoted to it.

think that for next 12 mo it may take a "special team" w Engineers..

SO.. do they become an overlay or do they become trainers, remote consultants..

SO is the SPECIAL TEAM an SEVT of it's own? NOT SURE…

Suggestion: need miniSNAp for smaller sites

So.. Are we specialists?

We (SEs) are more generalists, with additional specialties in this case in RFID..

WE ARE ONE LAYER of real solutions.. We need to be ready to work that way,
as part of a team, so we can help offer solutions to ISV or integration partner

We need to be involved in all the projects .. Go beyond selling hardware..

ROUND TABLE ISSUES

ERIC ..  Reminder: no RFID SDK for win10 and not one planned..

Azdine - for connection on RFD8500, some customer don't want BT.. They want USB..

can they disable BT and use USB for data transfer?
   Answer by group: Yes.
